Beautiful Picnic Spot Near Ludhiana – Mughal Sarai Fort [Rang De Basanti Fame]
Mughal Sarai Fort or RDB fort (Rang De Basanti) as you may call it – bacame famous after Aamir Khan starer Rang De Basanti movie was shot there and covered the beautiful song Tu Bin Bataye – wherein Madhavan proposes Soha Ali Khan. It is indeed a beautiful place to try your luck proposing the one you love ;).
It is a beatiful fort from the Mughal times known by the name Mughal Sarai, built by the Mughal ruler – Jahangir. The Sarai was beautifully painted with bright colors and had beautiful walls and ceiling. The gates were painted with floral designs.
This is another great example of the fort from Mughal times which has been beautifully portrayed by the directors of Indian Cinema, and getting featured in a commercial movie, it has become quite famous by the name RDB Fort – at least that is what me and my friends call it :P.
The interest level of people, not only from the near about areas but also from far off places, ever since the release of this movie in 2006 has increased manifold.
Here is a clipping of the making of the RDB song I am talking about. Have a look, you will definitely want to go there. Making of ‘Tu Bin Bataye’ – Rang De Basanti.
So if you want to have some great time with your loved one or just want to hang out wiith your friends and have a memorable time, visit RDB fort near Doraha and you will have a good experience. For directions, you can ask anyone, “picture ki shooting wala fort kahaan hai” and every resident of the village will direct you the route and you can easily reach the place. It is the best destination to end up with your gang, when you bunk a lecture or two from college ;). (I hope my dad is not reading this :D)
Location: It is located about 10 kms from Nilon bridge and 20 kms from the Ludhiana city. Once you reach Doraha, you will be able to spot Gurdwara sahib from around 2 kms and could notice boundary wall of the fort.
So, what do you think about the RDB fort – have you been there with your friends? If not, plan a vist and you will remember it for all times to come. Till you plan the visit to RDB fort, stick to the gedi routes of Ludhiana and still have fun staying in Ludhiana 😉
