The Ludhianvi movie freaks have got a totally new and different venue to watch their favourite films – FilmYi Club.
At The FilmYi Club, you can watch and discuss your favourite movies you miss out because of the popularity of mainstream cinema. These not-so-popular low budget movies by independent film-makers are not released in theatres and multiplexes and FilmYi Club promises to screen these at members’ places one by one.
The FilmYi club has been launched by city based young industrialists, advocates and doctors – all a part of the Ludhiana chapter of Young Indians.
The idea of starting a FilmYi Club has been conceived by Sifti Riat, co-chairperson of Young Indians (Yi) Ludhiana Chapter. She says “All types of films, including cult movies, modern-day classics and documentaries will be screened in the club.”
FilmYi Club conducted its maiden show on Saturday at Sifti Riyat’s house in Country Homes which has got a good response. The first movie screened was ”Sita sings the blues“, an animated movie based on Ramayana which was raved about by the members who watched it.
There was also a discussion on the movie and the general opinion was that it’s a good movie. Dheeraj Datta, executive member of Young Indians Ludhiana Chapter has also played an active role in organizing the event.
